Ackland Film Forum: Set It Off (F. Gary Gray, 1996)

A screening of F. Gary Gray's 1996 heist film starring Jada Pinkett Smith, Queen Latifah, and Vivica A. Fox, in which four Black women left with few viable paths forward turn to a string of increasingly audacious bank robberies. Professor Daelena Tinnin-Gadson of UNC-Chapel Hill's Department of English and Comparative Literature introduces the film. The screening is part of the series Crime Thrillers from the Americas: Snapshots of Social Anxiety, presented alongside the Ackland exhibition Care and Concern.
